When God Says …
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” (Luke 10:1 KJV).
The Lord Jesus Christ appoints and sends out seventy or seventy-two (in other translations) other disciples in pairs to prepare towns and places for His arrival in upcoming visits. This is the Lord’s expansion of His outreach beyond the twelve apostles to reach greater number of people in more locations. The number seventy-two may be a symbol pointing to the seventy-two nations of the world that came out of the sons of Noah after the flood as listed in Genesis 10, establishing the universal nature of the Gospel message of the New Covenant of Grace.
The mission requires full trust in God's provision, completely in contrast with today’s religious missions where so called ‘missionary workers’ even borrowing the name of the Lord, yet are made dependent on there religious enterprises for provision, instead of the true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. As true disciples sent by the Only begotten Son of God, the disciples’ dependence is on God’s provisions not men. They’re instructed to travel with only minimal resources (no debit/credit card, no backpack, or no extra Nike shoes) and to rely on the Lord’s provision through the hospitality of those who would receive and host them.
Along with the Seventy Two, you and we - as Partners for Christ, are not sent alone but in pairs to be efficient witnesses for the Gospel of the Grace of God. We are sent by Him who is the Person of Grace - our Lord Jesus Christ, in our daily walk in life, not by religious enterprises. We share the message of truth at every opportunity - in person or cyber space. Whether we are welcomed or rejected we press on. We have our back covered by heaven’s authority. We are duly provided and supported, as we give our love and service. We are reminded: “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:7-8 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!

When God says... I say, AMEN! is a provocative reflection of the Lord's holy Word. It intends to challenge every seeker of truth to dig deep into the core of the Word of Life to point every being to Christ Jesus - the author and finisher of our faith, and to draw revelations for change, for nourishment and for strength of every soul.
