When God Says …
“And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.” (Luke 10:5-6 KJV).
As with the seventy plus disciples, we as well, in our journey and mission in this realm of living, we bring peace to convey and manifest wherever we go. We are instructed to offer peace to every dwelling we enter. And the presence of “the son of peace” who is open, hospitable, and ready to receive the Gospel of Grace, allows the peace we offer to rest. In Hebrew, this person or household is one "worthy of peace" and is receptive to God's message. This is the bridge in facilitating ambience to introduce God’s message to the community. On the other hand, with peace unsettled in the absence of the son of peace, conveys rejection. It sadly results to great loss and judgement to the village due to missed opportunity to believe in the name of the Son of God (John 3:18).
These passages serve as guide for believers commissioned by the Lord as delivery men and women of the gospel of Grace, indicating that they should look for a "person of peace" to help others to be open to the Gospel. Peace is the litmus test to the hearts of those who are on the brink of hearing the heavenly message of God in the house we enter. In Christ Jesus, we are sent as His ambassadors, with His immense authority and power backing us (2 Corinthians 5:20).
We are called to respond to the commission, so that many can call upon the Lord’s name by faith and be saved. “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:13-17 ESV).
