“And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: the same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.” (John 12:20-23 KJV)
The pinnacle of the moment is come. The Lord Jesus Christ affirmed and declared. And, timely, the rest of the world knocked at the door of grace for salvation, as the Greeks who were at the Passover feast to worship, came to seek the Lord Jesus Christ. This signals the entry of the rest of the world into the realm of salvation, as the Jews of whom the Lord came first and foremost to save, rejected Him. They, the tribe of Israel that Lord sought for, disown Him. They turn away their eyes that see, and choose to not see, and those who were blind had their eyes opened to see. They came to see the Lord who saves, so we all who were once blind, that do not belong to the house of Israel, can see and enter the house of grace in Christ Jesus.
Phillip and Andrew, who acted as if the Lord's security screen against His enemies, went to tell Him along with the Greeks' who desired to see Him. The Lord Jesus uttered a somewhat way-off remark: "The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.” This, however, is of great significance, as the Lord declares the time for Him to be transformed and elevated to the highest place, has come. He is referring to what He taught to the disciples. In one of their travels, “They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.”” (Mark 9:30-31 ESV).
