The Gospel of John 12:46 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” (John 12:46 KJV).

This declaration is part of the Lord's final summation of His mission before His crucifixion. Revealing Himself being the light of the world when He spoke at the Festival of Lights (John 8:12), He used the metaphor of light shining over darkness pervading the world. In Hebrew, understanding light denotes knowledge, enlightenment and God's presence. In such context, the Lord's pronouncement should alert us that in this world without His presence in our life to be our light, we grope in the dark. Hence, without His Lordship we will stumble and fall. Without His ever presence, one is headed to an eternal damnation in darkness (Matthew 22:13 NLT).

This passage is, therefore, nudging us to come to the Light of His presence. Receive Him by believing in Him and let Him have the sovereignty of our life. He will give us newness in our being. In Him we become a new creation by being born again. He gives us a new identity by His grace. We're sinner no more! The sins that chained us in darkness, He bore on the cross (1 Peter 2:24).

Now, in Christ Jesus, we are His righteousness. “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
