When God Says …
“His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.” (Luke 1:50-51 NIV).
In her song, by the unction of the Spirit of the Lord in her womb, in spontaneity of worship Mary declares God’s ever flowing mercy from generation to generation. Through the lens of God's grace, we see the never ceasing flow of His power working in the lives of them who submit to His sovereignty and love. God performs His mighty deeds with His limitless arm to the humble. He scatters the proud in their thoughts. These passages highlight God's sovereign justice and mercy, emphasizing His ability to bring down the proud, and exalt the humble that are totally dependent in His grace.
God, in human form as a baby in Mary’s womb, is expressing His Words through Mary’s song of praise. He is reminding us. Yes, we who are now saved by grace by believing in Him, is being prompted to be still and know that: “The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:11-12 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
