“And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.” (Luke 2:15 KJV).
Here, with this passage we are invited to join the shepherds to go and see the wonderful thing that God has done. He send His Only Begotten Son - the Lord Jesus Christ who's born in a barn and lying in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes. Yes, God has told us about this great event — through his Old Testament prophets (Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2), with the yearning of our hearts for a Savior, and through our need for answers to life's greatest dilemmas of sin and death. So let's join the shepherds and head to Bethlehem to the manger. But, let's not just stop at the manger; God invites us to journey all the way through the story. After all, Luke wasn't writing a biography of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was telling the story of our salvation through God's promised Savior.
So, let's strengthen our resolve to pursue the Lord Jesus Christ all the way from here on through Luke's story of God's saving love . "Let's see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about" and find God's grace, love, and salvation in Christ Jesus. Let us receive Him by believing in Him. Receive His grace by faith. “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:16-17 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
