The Gospel of Luke 2:27-29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, According to thy word:” (Luke 2:27-29 KJV).

Simeon being guided by the revelation of the Holy Spirit (Luke 2:27), was prompted by the Spirit to come to the temple at the precise moment when Mary and Joseph brought the child Jesus to fulfill the Old Covenant requirement of the law. During their encounter, Simeon who was destined to see the Messiah before dying by the revelation of the Holy Spirit (Luke 2:26), took the child Jesus in his arms. This gesture is our call to embrace the saving grace of Christ Jesus, as Simeon did. The Lord Jesus Christ did not come for our example to follow all the things He did while in this world. We could not do all that He did. Only Him can do what He did to save us by His righteous obedience to fulfill the “thou shalt(s) and shalt not(s)” demands of the law Mathew 5:17), so we can be released from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2).

Now, by embracing the Lord Jesus Christ through believing in Him, we are made righteous and able to see salvation, as Simeon did. Like Him anyone who believes, is ready to depart from the flesh in peace (Luke 2:29). In Christ Jesus, we have abiding assurance, as apostle Paul testified: “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” (2 Corinthians 5:8-9 NIV). We please Him not by our self efforts, but by faith like that of Simeon, as it is written: “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
