The Gospel of Luke 2:13-14 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:13-14 KJV).

The peace that is spoken of here is not merely the absence of chaos or conflict or war, but a deep sense of stillness within that comes from knowing God and experiencing His grace and love in the person of the new born King, Christ Jesus our Lord. This is steadiness, and unshakable peace within, in the midst of turmoil and upheaval. The passages remind believers that the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ brings hope and reconciliation, not only vertically between God and humanity, but also horizontally among people themselves. In Him peace now reigns on earth in the hearts of men and women that believe.

Another significant theme in these passages is the crucial manifestation of God incarnate in the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The angel’s announcement underscores His birth as a pivotal moment for the salvation of the world. We are blessed. So, let us join with heavenly host to praise and glorify the Lord. Along with the lowly shepherds who first heard the great news, we are blessed in the knowledge that the King of heaven and earth is born as a baby lying in the manger. “And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,” (Ephesians 2:17-19 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
