The Gospel of Luke 1:73-75 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.” (Luke 1:73-75 KJV).

Under oath, God made the promise that He will set us free from the hands of our enemies and that all the nations of the earth shall be blessed. All of these were fulfilled in Christ Jesus the Messiah, who came, died and was risen. He was heralded by Zacharias’ son. These words of praise to the Lord by Zacharias, reminds us of these promises. Let’s therefore, reflect on the Lord’s declaration to Abraham for his obedience in offering his only son. The oath referred to in these passages is: “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice” (Genesis 22:16 – 18 ESV).

Now, being sons and daughters of God by faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ, this oath has been fulfilled. We are set free from the clutches of our enemies. Sin and death are vanquished at the cross. We have been saved by faith as a gift. Not by works of self effort. By faith, not by religion, we can walk as the Lord Jesus walked in this journey of living in this world. In Him by faith we will live righteously, as the Lord Jesus did. It is written scriptures say: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
