“For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, And the glory of thy people Israel.” (Luke 2:30-32 KJV).
A saying that "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" many accepted as an excuse for becoming lethargic and cynical as they grow old. But for me, I am no dog! Are you!? I believe I can change — or better yet, I believe that the Spirit of the Lord can transform me. Here, we have the aging Simeon, wrinkled perhaps and all decrepit, yet he got to see God's new light for the gentile world and the dawning glory for Israel. Why? Because Simeon believed and waited on God to do something great in his day. He kept believing in God's promises even when he was getting older with no sign seen coming.
On the same setting, God still longs to do glorious things in our day. This desire is true whether we are old, young, or in-between! So, let's keep believing, listening, trusting, following, waiting and expecting the Lord Jesus in grace to manifest in mighty ways! He has already done what He promised! He unleashed the resources of heaven for all our needs when He declared on the cross: "It is finished!" All there is for us to do is stay in faith and declare things done to manifest in the physical. God is faithful. He has already provided us with glorious things by his finished work on the cross. The key to possess it is to come in the posture of receiving. He has so much to give. We receive it all by faith. By the power of our declaration, things that are not come to manifest as they are.
We are created in God’s image. He calls nothing into existence saying "let there be light and there was light" (Genesis 1:3). Now, in our restored image in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17), we can call things in Him-our God, Creator and Savior, the God of Abraham: “as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.” (Poo Romans 4:17 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
