The Gospel of Luke 1:78-79 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Through the tender mercy of our God; Whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79 KJV).

The birth of John is the dawn of God's great time of fulfillment to His promise. As this song of worship that Zacharias is offering, it is like the light of the early morning breaking. Many of the promises to the people of God, spoken by the prophets over centuries in the Old Testament, are now unfolding to come true. John will be an instrument in God's hand. His birth is a sign that the time of fulfillment has come. John will be a servant to the Almighty, doing God's work. The deliverance is God's salvation. The triumph is God's victory. The fulfillment is God's faithfulness. The dawn is here, and darkness is being driven away by a holy light guiding our entrance into His peace and love. His light draws out those who - like us once, are sitting under the dark shadow of death.

Now in our faith of our risen Lord Jesus Christ, we’re plucked out of darkness. We must remember that nothing here is in our credit. It is all gift of grace by believing in the Son of God, Christ Jesus our Lord. Scriptures declare who we are in Him, as it is written: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
