When God Says …
“And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?” (Luke 6:39 KJV).
Every person on this planet is spiritually blind without total submission to the grace of God by faith in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:4). Yes, apart from our being wrapped by grace in our Lord Jesus Christ we are just a shell of flesh wandering aimlessly in this darkened world. The Lord Jesus applies this parable to the priests and Pharisees during His interaction with them talking about their preference to follow their traditions over God’s command about honoring one’s father and mother. He said to His disciples: “Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”” (Matthew 15:14 NIV).
This is therefore alerting us to have the right guide as we navigate this darkened world we are passing through. This world is full of traps and snares, and ditches and pits. As children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, we don’t look to men and women to guide and to lead us. They’re blind as a bat, too. Especially, dead men and women that many look up to for help. They have no more business under the sun! Scriptures say: “Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 9:6b NIV). Apostle Peter when he was alive said to Cornelius who knelt before him: “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself””(Acts 10:26b NIV). Sadly, many today are bowing and knelling before the image of Peter and other dead men and women.
We have a perfect guide, being His sons and daughters by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. “….. God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end” (Psalms 48:14b NIV). And we’ll never walk in the dark. We have His holy and written Word! It is written: “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (Psalms 119:105 NLT). Our Lord Jesus, by our faith in Him, promised us this: “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”(John 16:13 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
