When God Says …
“For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.” (Luke 7:8 KJV).
The Roman centurion who obviously believed the Lord’s true being as He is God, recognized the Lord’s authority and power. He used himself as example as to how and why the Lord Jesus can do healing without setting foot in his self-declared unworthy dwelling. He submits himself unworthy of the Lord’s visit for he is a gentile. Yet, even so, having no part with the promises of the true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, he believed. Doing so he unchained himself from shackles of his pagan religion of many God’s by seeking the Lord Jesus Christ. And, the Lord Jesus, true to His Words “seek and you will find”, this officer is found by the Lord who responds to his faith. That’s true to anyone who seeks the Lord today. The Lord is ever ready to come to you as he did to this centurion. Without hesitation the Lord Jesus responds to his plea with no precondition. The same way the Lord does to you and I. He will answer us! (Isaiah 55:24; Jeremiah 33:3).
The Words the Lord Jesus speaks carry power far beyond and as high as the heavens. From the centurion’s analogy of himself, having power over the people under him who obey his command, he believed what the Lord says happens. His analogy demonstrates his faith. The Lord’s authority and power go beyond the realm of our intellect to grasp on. It is as the scriptures reveal: ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV). Further, it is written Scriptures declare: “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
