The Gospel of Luke 7:16 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.” (Luke 7:16 KJV).

Recognizing the signs the Lord Jesus manifests as divine power from heaven, and not of human skill, the people were filled with "fear" (reverent fear and awe). The crowds give God the glory for the power they witnessed displayed by the Lord Jesus Christ. The crowds recognize this is not a fait accompli a natural man can do. This is God!

There are two crowds converging at the gate of the city of Nain. Coming in, the crowd following the Lord Jesus who is the author of life. And, going out in a funeral procession to bury the dead - the widow’s only son. In a religious setting, the two crowds converging would join together to mourn. But, in this setting, one crowd have in their presence the Person of grace in Christ Jesus. By grace, out of compassion with the mother, the Lord Jesus Christ who is the source of life, restores the dead young man to life and delivered him to his mother. In the presence of the Person of grace in Christ Jesus, the two crowds join together not for religious mourning but to rejoice in celebration for living (Luke 7:11-15).

The people declare: “… A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”” (Luke 7:16b NKJV). This is a ‘pleasant’ news to the people of the ‘pleasant city’ Nain. Grace is in their doorstep! God is visiting them! Did the people of Nain welcome and receive the Lord Jesus? There is no mention beyond what happened at the city gate. That doesn’t matter. What matters is: Do you, reflecting this today, welcome and receive the Lord? He is visiting you! He is at your doorstep! Knocking! (Revelation 3:20). Now is the time to receive Him and allow Him to love you. Only by His Lordship and love can we be reborn and see the kingdom of God. It is written: “Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.””(John 3:3 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
