The Gospel of Luke 9:51 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:51 NIV).

This passage marks as a pivotal moment for our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only begotten Son of God, sent by the Father to save us. He sets His direction to go towards Jerusalem the stronghold of religion. This seals the critical turning point in the Lord's mission, shifting His sight from Galilee to go to Jerusalem for His eventual climactic sacrifice in the hands of the Jewish religious leaders. The Lord Jesus unwaveringly resolve to go to Jerusalem, the city of David, for his final divine appointment. He "set His face toward Jerusalem" to fulfill his divine mission, which is a journey to be "taken up" in His death, His resurrection, and His ascension.

Every step the Lord Jesus takes towards Jerusalem was an act of love for you and I. It’s the only way for our forgiveness to be made possible through His sacrifice. We are loved. The reason the Lord Jesus left the majesty of heaven to come, stepped into the earth He created, to rescue us from the darkness of this world. Scriptures declare: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 ESV). You and I are chosen in Christ Jesus by grace, as it is written: "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
