When God Says …
“And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;” (Luke 6:17 KJV).
This passage gives us the beautiful picture of our Lord Jesus Christ coming down from the mountain into level ground. Such a symbolic display: the God of heaven step out of His majestic throne descend upon the earth to bring His equalizing message of grace and truth. He stood among us on the same ground being clothe with humanity. He became like us so we can become like Him.
So, with Him on level ground, the twelve disciples He chose as His apostles didn't have to wait long. They’re at once overwhelmed with a crowd of opportunity converging with them to hear fresh message from heaven and be healed, coming from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon. As they (the Apostles and Disciples) are called by the Master, they’re at once surrounded by great multitudes yearning to find the grace that God offered through and in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Who is sufficient to satisfy for such a challenge? None of them! None of us! But it isn't a matter for their and our sufficiency. It is the sufficiency of the One on whom we rely on that matters. The Lord Jesus in His presence equips us and girds us ready to serve in His Kingdom, being His disciples along with His apostles. He is the One who makes us perfect in our weakness to be a blessing to those who search for grace. Don't be dismayed by your lack and insufficiencies, but come to the Lord, follow and depend upon His grace to be sufficient for you. It is written, the Apostle Paul pleaded the Lord to take the thorn of weakness from his flesh. He testified: “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
