When God Says …
“But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.” (Luke 6:24 KJV).
This passage reveals that those who prioritize and rely on worldly comfort will miss out on the true eternal comfort found in a relationship with God by faith in Christ Jesus. It is reminding you and I that our first and foremost priority is being under the Lordship of Him who is our source. This is not a blanket condemnation of material wealth though, but rather a warning against seeking ultimate satisfaction and security in it. While we are in this realm of matter, space and time, with our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ - sustained by His Words, we flourish and thrive with exceeding blessings on both material and spiritual - hand in hand. Scriptures say, those whose delight is the words of the Lord and meditate on it - “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” (Psalms 1:3 NIV).
This verse seriously draws our attention to look beyond what you can possess in this world. Look beyond the blessings and look to its source and seek Him. We must not neglect seeing the truth: this physical realm is temporal. This is not intended for our eternal residence. It ends, and then eternity. Without the Lordship of Christ Jesus, by grace through faith in Him, this place is the only best side of heaven a person sees, and for that person, eternity means lake of fire (Matthew 25:31 & Revelations 20:14-15).
For those who seek the Lord Jesus Christ, His kingdom and His righteousness, and receive His Lordship, all the best of this world will added on to you (Matt 6:33). The is the only worst side of hell they will ever see. And for them, eternity means living in the presence of God which the scripture assures, that Apostle John testifies: “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”(Revelation 21:3-4 KJV).
And I say, AMEN!
