When God Says …
“And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.” (Luke 6:33 KJV).
Articulating this passage, as children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, says doing good only to those who are good to us is no virtue at all. Even sinners do the same. This emphasizes the importance of extending kindness and doing good to everyone, regardless of their actions and attitude towards you, not because they treat you good. It challenges the concept of reciprocity and calls for a higher standard of love and generosity, mirroring God's own grace and kindness to the ungrateful and evil world. This continues to stress His prior command to "…do good to those who hate you" (Luke 6:27), and as an application for loving those who do not love you (Luke 6:32).
The Lord Jesus Christ in this revelation and those in prior passages, has raised the bar of work to be done, far beyond any person to fulfill. This is to make us realize that we need a Savior to fulfill these for us. And, the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished these for us by dying on the cross and by defeating the grave through His resurrection. He came to fulfill the requirements of the law (Matthew 5:17). So now by faith in Him, we can live this command by His grace. Not by our efforts and trying hard to do but by total dependence on Him who now lives us, unction by the Holy Spirit and guided by His Words in every step we make. With Him in us, Scriptures declare as Apostle Paul testifies: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
