The Gospel of John 19:35-37 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.” (John 19:35-37 KJV).

Apostle John, who was the youngest of the Twelve, was the only apostle who witnessed first-hand the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. He followed the Lord every step of the way from the time He was arrested, and he stood at the foot of the cross, along with other followers, mostly women. Referring himself in the third person, he - “The eyewitness to these things has presented an accurate report. He saw it himself and is telling the truth so that you, also, will believe.” (John 19:35 MSG).

He witnessed the religious priests wanting to speed up the execution and the Roman governor giving permission to break their legs (John 19:31–32). By then, the Lord Jesus was already dead (John 19:33). No one takes His life. He gives it! A soldier confirmed it by piercing his side with a spear (John 19:34). With none of the Lord’s bones broken, affirms His role as the perfect Passover Lamb (1 Peter 1:19). This was prophetically pointed to by Israel’s ritual sacrifice of spotless Passover lambs (Exodus 12:5; 12:46). He is the sinless Man (Hebrews 4:15) who allowed Himself to die on the cross in our place, with no bones broken,

Hence, now by faith in Him by the witness of truth we heard, we can look to Him who was pierced. The Holy Scriptures exhort us: “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV).

And I say, AMEN!
