The Gospel of John 18:15-16 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest. But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.” (John 18:15-16 KJV).

These passages give us insight into the unfolding drama, started by the high profile arrest of the Lord Jesus in the garden. Now, bound, He is being dragged to the palace of the high priest of the religious Jews of the time. We see Peter and another disciple who was John, referring himself on the Third person, following the mob. These passages tell us that He - the Apostle John, was an acquaintance to the high priest with no clear details as to how. There are only conjectures that it may be by family affiliation. Hence, he was able to freely enter the palace gate, but needed to go back out to ask the gatekeeper to let Peter in.

Peter and John, two of the Lord’s closest Apostles, were in to witness firsthand this dramatic and unprecedented start of the fakest religious trial in history. This is the kind of trial that we too are warned could be charged, as believers of our Master and Savior Christ Jesus. Like Him, who was arrested with no wrongdoing, but because of the truth He revealed and the Good News He declared that He came from the Father wrapped in human flesh, we too are targets. Yes, as we believe in Him who moved in our neighborhood driven by love, so He can be with and in us, and we with and in Him. We, who received Him and are born again by faith, are warned but must not worry, as He assured: “And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”” (Luke 12:11-12 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
