The Gospel of John 11:1-3 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.” (John 11:1-3 KJV).

These passages open the setting in the town of Bethany where the Lord's close friends Lazarus, Mary and Martha live. The news about Lazarus being gravely ill reaches the Lord, as his sisters sent Him words of his health condition. This unfolding scene is a learning example for us in such dire situation. True to their close relationship with the Lord and with faith, these women called for help to the One who is the source for everything we need, in this case for healing of their sick brother.

These family is very close to the Lord and truly, like John the beloved, fully grasp that they are the Lord's beloved. When we truly recognize and allow the Lord to love us, only then we can manifest its fruit as demonstrated by Mary who washed the Lord's feet with costly perfume and dried them with her hair at one incident. With our true relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ bound by His love through faith in Him, we have our first line of help to call in times of need. He is our 911.

God's holy and written Words assure us that as we call upon the Lord He answers and saves us. We have these promises to rest on:

“Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalms 124:8 NIV)

“for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” (Romans 10:13 NIV)

These siblings truly got it, as the Psalmist declared: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
