When God Says …
“Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.” (John 9:28-29 KJV).
In response to the challenge of the once blind man if they desire to become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, these arrogant religious people literally piled up on him. Sadly, the only confession of truth these Jewish authorities said about the Lord Jesus Christ in this drama was that they knew nothing about Him. Their claim of being Moses' disciples is therefore marked with a big question. If they really were disciples of Moses, as they said they were, they would have known the Lord. If they really knew God, they would have known the Messiah. Basically, the reason so many people reject our Lord Jesus Christ because they don't really know him. With 'church' religious experiences and rigmaroles, with 'church' people, or lifestyles in the mix, many get impeded on their journey of truly knowing the Lord Jesus Christ.
As we seek to reach the lost, we must remember that the core, the essence, the truth we share must be centered in Christ Jesus and the holy and written Words that proceed from the mouth of God. Rather than getting lost in a lot of 'church' mumbo jumbo, let's share Jesus, who came full of grace and truth, with those who are somehow caught up with religious doctrines, customs and traditions. Let's help them see the Savior through the lens of grace and His finished work on the cross. We must always be rooted in these revelations:
* The Truth is the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
* The Truth is the Word (John 17:17).
* The Word is Christ Jesus (John 1:1 & 14)!
So, when we look to the Lord Jesus Christ in spirit through our hearts by faith, not in a physical image shaped by human hands (Exodus 20:4), come into His presence in spirit wherever we are (John 4:24) and not in physical buildings made by men (Acts 7:48-49; Acts 17:24-28), we see His true being and truly know Him. Then, as His redeemed by grace through faith, it is written we will: "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure." (1 John 3:1-3 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
