The Gospel of John 9:35-38 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.” (John 9:35-38 ESV).

Earning the ire of the religious leaders, this healed beggar who once was blind from birth, had him thrown out of their Jewish synagogue. They were abashed by his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Miracle Worker who healed him. His challenge of faith to the arrogant religious leaders earned him their insults and outright excommunication. The Lord heard his plight and found him for a post-healing encounter. This man did not see the Lord Jesus Christ after his eyesight was restored. This second encounter is very compelling as we follow the flow of their interaction. The question the Lord posed to the man is a question of faith affirmation on the Son of Man, who is the Messiah in His person - Christ Jesus our Lord.

The once blind man's confession "Lord I Believe" and his worship of the Lord Jesus Christ is such a great example and pattern for emulation by those who are still acting like the religious leadership of the Jews. Our declaration of belief in the Lord Jesus Christ is the most powerful life-changing utterance for salvation that our mouth can speak. It is written, the Lord Jesus said: “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”” (Matthew 12:36-37 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!
