The Gospel of Luke 4:37 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.” (Luke 4:37 KJV).

It is amazing how quickly the supernatural event that transpired on Sabbath day in the synagogue of Capernaum spread around the region without the hi-tech tool of social media. But, it did! The Lord's authority and power to cast out unclean spirits by His Word rapidly created a buzz. The news started spreading like wild fire! The Lord's fame was swiftly disseminated into every corners of the country by the witnesses of His miraculous works. This wasn’t just a typical mill-of-the-day event. It was a supernatural encounter that left the witnesses in awe. The Lord Jesus had demonstrated something they had never seen before: instant and undeniable power over evil.

In first-century Jewish society, word of mouth was the main channel news traveled, other than official scroll announcements. Major events, especially those in this case involving miracles, spread rapidly within towns and regions, across kingdoms and nations. When God dried up a portion of the Red Sea to create a highway for the Israelites to pass through to escape from Pharaoh’s powerful army, the news went ahead of the Israelites, sending shivers in the gut to the inhabitants of the land they would occupy. They were scared to the bones (Joshua 2:8-11). Words are mightier than swords! These words of the miraculous works of the Lord send chills of fear to the enemy of our soul. In Christ Jesus our Lord, our spoken word is power! It is written: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21 NIV).

And I say, AMEN!
