The Gospel of Luke 5:24-25 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.” (Luke 5:24-25 KJV).

In proclaiming this palsy man’s sins were forgiven, the Lord Jesus affirmed His Deity, which, of course, He is. His subsequent healing pronouncement over the paralytic man provides unquestionable proof and sign that He indeed had the authority to forgive sins, and He is God with us. Anyone can say “Your sins are forgiven”. But the signs affirm that He is the Messiah. In this profound moment, the sign lay in the instantaneous healing of the palsy man by the Lord’s words of command.

When the Lord Jesus declares to the religious observers and the crowd: "But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon earth to forgive sins,” and to the paralytic man: “I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house." - the Lord Jesus reveals His divinity and His authority as the Son of Man to forgive sins. This also illustrates the holistic physical and spiritual healing, when we come in faith before His presence. By healing the paralyzed man, He demonstrates His power to not only heal the body but also to forgive sins and bring about spiritual restoration.

It is therefore a call for those who are behaving like the narcissistic religious Jews, those who are shackled by doctrines of religion, and those who are enamored with the vanities of the world to come like this paralytic man. In the presence of the Lord Jesus, as we come, there awaits regeneration of the body and reconciliation with God where we all belong. It is written: “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
