The Gospel of Luke 5:11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.” (Luke 5:11 KJV).

This is it, to follow our Lord Jesus Christ: We let go of everything and leave it behind. We forsake all! This is not joining a “church organization”. It is entering a new life. It is not living half for Christ and half for ourselves. It is not living for the world and being pulled in two directions: six days for self and the world; one day for religion. It is wholehearted and unreserved following our Lord Jesus Christ in every breath of our living while still in this world.

This world is not where we belong. This world is not our place of citizenship. We’re sojourners here. We are just passing through. Navigating through this place, we need guidance to make sure we don’t get misdirected and lost sight of our destination which is our eternal kingdom of citizenship and residency in heaven (Philippians 3:20). Yes, while we are here, we need to flourish and thrive with fishing, carpentry and other vocations we are blessed with for living in this physical realm. And, for all those, the Lord will provide us with blessings and power to thrive. When we release it and follow Him, it will be restored with heavenly mandate, like when the Lord Jehovah commanded Moses to let go off his staff - his vital tool for shepherding his flock of sheep. Which he did. It was restored to him with power (Exodus 4:2-4).

When we forsake for the Lord what we posses, He restores it with power like Moses’s staff. Let us therefore surrender all to follow the Lord to rest in His grace by faith! One prominent demonstration of Moses’s staff being used by God in a profound display of power was when the Lord made a highway for the Israelites to cross through the Red Sea. It is written: “The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.” (Exodus 14:15-16 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
