When God Says …

“Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.” (John 20:1 NIV).

The stone was rolled away! This marked an era of a new life. The grave was vanquished. It could not hold the Lord. The seal that contained the stench of a rotting body was broken. The stench was cast to oblivion, replaced by the aroma of the new morning breeze of freedom to live. The stunning sight of the sepulcher’s open entrance, with stone-lid removed, marks a moment of hope.

For Mary Magdalene, who once was healed by the Lord Jesus from demonic possession (Luke 8:2), to have the privilege to see it first assured that God’s plan for women and for those who are blessed much, are made bearers of the good news. God is not respecter of persons. But, He is a respecter of faith. Mary Magdalene was one of the Lord’s faithful followers. She witnessed the Lord’s execution and stood at the foot of the cross when He declared “it is finished” (John 19:25-39). Like Apostle John, she too recognized the value of being the Lord’s beloved. And we, as well, being the Lord's redeemed by grace through faith in Him, must recognize and honor His love for us.

The power of grace and truth rolled the lid off the tomb. The grave has been stripped of its power. The Lord Jesus Christ entered it corruptible and came out incorruptible. The grave is defeated. It is written, Scriptures affirm: “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:54-55 KJV).

And I say, AMEN!
