When God Says …
“When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)” (Luke 8:28-29 KJV).
The Lord Jesus Christ continuing His interaction with the man possessed by multitude of demons, these passages throw in a profoundly stirring reveal: the devil knows the Lord as who He is. He knows who the Lord Jesus is, His power and His authority. He knows the Lord Jesus being the Son of the Most High. He even falls down before the Lord to beseech Him not to torment and cast him out from his host body. The Lord Jesus having commanded the demons and unseen spirits from the naked man, the demons beg. This is such a dramatic expose’ that the demons know full well who God is, His authority and His power. And yet with such knowledge, because of who he is and his nature of being anti God, he defies God.
These passages declare who we are when not genuinely submitted to truly humble before the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a person not rested in GOD's grace. Not declaring the Lord's sovereignty of our lives and our home by truly believing in Him to be born again, puts a person as an enemy of God. Even by a person’s friendship with the world, is enmity with God! (James 4:4). We are to truly surrender our lives to the Lord’s love and grace. Doing so, we are set apart. By our true faith in Christ Jesus, we too are made children of the Most High. "As the Lord Jesus is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Scriptures affirm, as it is written: ““I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’” (Psalms 82:6 NIV).
It’s time to come to God in Christ Jesus. No matter what’s the situation in the world around us we are set apart and secure in the presence of God. He sets us apart! Scriptures declare: “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11 NIV). We must be grateful that our Lord Jesus came to do the will of the Father for us. Now, by faith in Him, we are sanctified. It is written: “And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Hebrews 10:10 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
