The Gospel of Luke 8:49-50 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead: trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.” (Luke 8:49-50 KJV).

While in this world, for all of us, a time of crisis will descend, and everything we hold dear will appear to be lost. Such moment is the hard crank for faith to kick in. Faith may never have been hard for us before this crisis, as this man Jairus now faced with. The finality of death to a human mind sounds like a bombshell being dropped. With such kind of tests and challenges, for us who are in the flesh face, can become our moment of truth. Questions pop up. Will our faith hold? Is what we believe true? Can we trust the Lord Jesus in our crisis, even when we can't see a positive outcome? When all seems lost, and when everyone else has doubts, it is in this kind of moment that our Lord Jesus Christ - our Savior comes to us and says, "Don't be afraid. Just have faith!"

There are over 300 variations of phrases in the Scriptures reminding us that we must "fear not"; "do not be afraid"; “be courageous” and “take heart”. This is, therefore, our forewarning of the reality of something in this world that causes fear. It is a staple of this world. Fear is the main tool of the prince of this world. But, we have the Lord's gift of peace, being His sons and daughters. The Lord Jesus said to the disciples and by extension to us now: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
