The Gospel of Luke 8:4-8 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” (Luke 8:4-8 KJV).

This parable is about a Sower sowing his seeds. In the process of scattering the seeds, it fell on different types of soils. The outcome of which varies according to the soil it fell on to settle. This story, as the Lord revealed later to the disciples, is about the Word of God being the seeds revealed by God who is the Sower, and the human heart being the soil.

The Lord tells this parable to the crowd that gathered, with His apostles and disciples, and to us now reflecting these passages, as an analogy drawing us to look into the process of sowing to help us discern and understand the word of life that the Lord Jesus wants us to get a strong grasp and abide on. He is calling all who have ears to seriously hear. This highlights the importance of our heart’s condition in order to receive and respond to the Word of God. Hence, this reminds us to cultivate our hearts in the spirit of receptivity for His Word.

The Lord likened our heart to the dirt. The seeds are God’s Words. The different conditions and types of soil, are the reflections of the types and nature of our heart, which matter to how the seeds which is the Words of God are received and nurtured to bear much fruits in the divine proclamation of our mouth. The good ground is the receptive heart. With the seeds being the Lord's holy and written Words sown in the fertile condition of our heart, it will bring forth fruits in the utterances of worships on our lips. It is written: “Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.(Hebrews 13:15 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
