When God Says …
“And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.” (Luke 8:47-48 KJV).
This woman came for healing. She had snuck up on the Lord Jesus through the throng trying not to draw attention to self. She is conscious of her being a social pariah due to her illness. Realizing that her sneaky touch on the Lord’s hem was not hidden to Him, she was terrified. She thought perhaps her touch made her well but made the Lord Jesus unclean according to the Jews’ religious belief. She attempts to hide but truth prevailed. Trembling she fell at His feet.
Laid open before the Lord in the middle of the crowd, she received much more than what she came for. The Lord Jesus refused to allow the woman to receive an anonymous miracle. Instead, He has her come forward and then praises her faith and send her to go live in peace. Despite fearful, she ventured out in faith and received a double blessing. She was not only healed; she was also edified! The Lord Jesus addressing her “daughter”, the only instance in the Scriptures the Lord Jesus addressed a woman daughter, He sends her to "go in peace".
This is such a reassuring demonstration of the Lord's compassion to those who come to Him in faith, being authentic and real. No religious protocols of remorse and ritualistic red tapes required, but raw faith in Him who is love. When we reach out to touch Him, He embraces us by His love. As we rest in His grace by faith, He sends us too to live life in peace and with vigor. Being His sons and daughters, He assures you and I, like He does to the woman. “And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”” (Mark 5:34 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
